Founded in 1938 by the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet with just four classrooms and a parish hall, Ascension Catholic School has been educating children of all denominations in the South Los Angeles community for over 70 years with almost 300 students in Pre-K and K-8 classrooms.
One of six regional accrediting associations in the United States, the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) first accredited Ascension Catholic School in 2005, along with the Western Catholic Education Association. With these accreditations, Ascension Catholic School creates the highest quality learning experience for all students and insures that efficient and relevant systems are in place to fulfill those expectations for every child.
From this proud tradition, Ascension Catholic School celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2013 and was presented with a a certificate by California’s governor, Jerry Brown.
