Ascension was blessed to have students from Santa Clara University spend 2 days of their 1 week immersion program volunteering in Ascension’s classrooms. From Pre-K to 8th grade, the students shared their time and talent with our students. One highlight was doing a project called Paintbrush Diplomacy and Ascension students drew pictures about their community to share with other students across the globe.
On the second day of the SCU volunteering, the whole school wsa struck by March madness! Special games were held on the playground with each class representing a college in the NCAA basketball championships. The Ascension students with help from the SCU students researched the colleges, learned about the academic offerings and then made a banner to represent of the playground. Thanks to Ashley Leslie, Denny Suarez, Joe Sarmiento, Ryan Selewicz, Hope Titus, Cheska Concepcion, Mayra Gonzalez, Itzel Diaz, Vanessa Diaz, Alyna Merali, Michelle Maddex, student coordinator, and Lori Durako, staff companion, for sharing with Ascension!
